My Story: Why I Chose to Help Families Facing Foreclosure

Every homeowner who reaches out to us has their own story, their own stress, and their own fears. For me, this work isn’t just real estate — it’s personal.

When I was in high school, my grandma lost her home in a foreclosure. 

My grandfather had built that house with his own hands. It was our family’s gathering place, our history. But as the home got older, repairs were expensive, and money was tight. Even though the house was already paid off, my grandma ended up in a high-interest loan that barely reduced the balance. Eventually, she fell behind… and that was it. Foreclosure happened, and we were out.

We had nowhere to go. We stayed with a friend for a while. It was devastating for all of us — especially my grandma, who still talks about it all these years later. What hurt the most wasn’t just losing the home. It was the confusion, the fear, and the feeling that no one was there to explain what she could do.

I’ve always wondered how things might have been different if someone had sat with her, listened, and walked her through the options.

That’s why I do what I do now.
